Gilford Islands Community Area

Gilford Islands Association

Since its founding in 1991, the Gilford Islands Association (GIA) has worked to preserve the environmental quality of Lake Winnipesaukee, protect fish and wildlife and enhance the quality of island life for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future generations.

Island living offers a unique and valued experience to its residents as well as unique challenges and issues.  While the Gilford Islands offer a mix of island living experiences our members are tied together by a common love for "The Lake" and a legacy of caring for the environment and our neighbors that is often passed on for generations.

In collaboration with the Town of Gilford, the GIA advises on issues affecting the care and efficient use of the Glendale docks including parking, recycling, refuge disposal and trailer storage policies.  We are also active in providing support for monitoring of lake water quality and supporting acquisition of public open space
